A Fellowship Of The Spirit Of America

According to some recent polling, 67% of American voters "believe the federal government has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interests." ......Do you?

If so then 94% of people who are a part of the Tea Party Movement agree with you. In fact the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT is more in line with the majority of the American electorate and the American people than most of their critics.

James Taranto makes that point in a recent Wall Street Journal article by pointing to polls of Tea Party people compared to the American electorate at large. The polls show that where the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT overwhelmingly agree on issues they are in tune with America, as he puts it:


One can hardly be termed an extremist for taking a position with which between 57% and 69% of all Americans agree.

Precisely. The media and to some extent Democrats have tried very hard since the beginning of the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT just over a year ago to paint them (US) as fringe politically and some sort of extremist movement.

Guess what? It's not working. In fact if the Rasmussen poll is correct the movement is growing rapidly.

There is little doubt in my mind, and both polling and honest observation confirms, that the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT is pretty much main stream America. Of course they are characterized as a conservative movement, which is meant to disparage them somehow. Unfortunately for the media all the polls show that a more Americans self identify themselves as conservative than any other political ideology. So in truth the 20 % of Americans that identify themselves as Liberals, led by the media, are trying to paint the 40% of Americans who consider themselves Conservative as being out of the mainstream!

Unfortunately for the liberal elite, the majority gets to determine who the extremist are and it ain't us.

The most pathetic aspect of the assault on Americans who are involved in the TPM is the attempt to paint them as racist. This is not only despicable on its face, it is easily refuted by the facts, something that sadly modern journalism does not let get in the way of their ideology.


First even though 95% of African Americans voted for Obama, totally understandable, 6% of the Tea Party is African American. Though that is about half the percentage of Blacks in the electorate as a whole that is still a rather large number of African Americans who seem to have no problem being involved with a alleged racist movement.

More to the point listed below are some of the TEA PARTY MOVEMENTS favorite candidates for Congress in 2010.

Allen West for Congress Florida 22nd District

Michel Faulkner for Congress NY 15th District

Charles Lollar for Congress Maryland 5th District

Les Phillip for Congress Alabama 5th District

Princella Smith for Congress Arkansas 1st District

Charlotte Bergmann for Congress Tennessee's 9th District

Angela McGlowan, for Congress Mississippi's 1st District

Martin D. Baker for Congress Missouri 1st District

Tim Scott for Congress South Carolina 3rd District

These are just a few of the record thirty Black Republican candidates running for Congress in 2010. Nobody can say if all TEA PARTY members support all these or other African American candidates but most of those thirty support the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT. Many have been speakers at TEA PARTY events, some are even speaking today and most of the Black Republicans running for Congress are attending a TPM event today. You can go here look them up and check their schedules. Kind of strange that so many Black politicians want to speak to racist, isn't it?

When I attended the 9-12 march on Washington last year there were Blacks in attendance and at least 8 African American speakers that I recall. Does anyone seriously think that the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT or any significant portion of it condones racism, or is dominated by racist ? The fact is that the people who make such charges whether politicians, media or individuals expose themselves as race baiters and the truly divisive force in the political discussion. The slanderous accusers are the ones whom should be ridiculed and shunned, not the ordinary Americans partaking in their civil rights and duty. People who peddle such nonsense should be either called out or at the least ignored.

The simple truth and it is a simple truth, is that the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT sweeping over America is just the awakening of a free people to the realization that they have allowed through complacency and apathy, forces of statism in both parties to take away their cherished freedoms. As Michael Barone wrote recently:


By passing the stimulus package and the health care bills the Democrats produced expansion of government. But voters seem to prefer expansion of liberty...

That is the truth you are witnessing today and it is not going to abate any time soon. For those of you who check out the daily Events at the Tea Party Patriots site, you will notice that on any given day there are between 5 and 30 Tea Party events occurring around the country. Mostly they are weekly or monthly meetings, or study groups, or planning sessions, regardless they are everyday Americans coming together to discuss the future and the foundation of their nation.
As Glenn Reynolds put it:
Over the next couple of years, these multitudes of virgin political operatives are going to acquire considerably more experience and self-assurance, which means they're probably going to become considerably more effective, too. Politics may not be the same when they're done.
These ordinary Americans are planning political strategies, studying the Constitution or history and enjoying and thriving in the self education. Do you think they are just going to suddenly stop? Millions of Americans involved in something they passionately believe in are just going to all give up?
I attended Glenn Beck's American Revival in Orlando a couple of weeks ago, not only was it packed, it was electric. It was a communal deep down shared love of freedom tinged with a sadness of how close we are to squandering it. There was the sense that the sons, daughters and grandchildren of the Greatest Generation could very well be America's Last Generation, at least the last to truly live with the individual liberty our forefathers gave us. And that my friends is far more important than tax rates and the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT senses it and is driven by it.

The TPM at its core is concerned for the future of the country and they are doing something about it. As important as that is, it is only possible because Americans are discovering a lost virtue. We are getting to know one another in a way that Americans have not done in years, neighbor to neighbor, family to family with shared ideals and a shared hope. A sort of pioneer spirit of camaraderie that only the threatened can feel towards those they depend on for their mutual survival. It is that serious and Liberty loving people sense it.


More so than any other special interest group in our nation, The TEA PARTY MOVEMENT is WE THE PEOPLE. The TEA PARTY MOVEMENT is becoming a fellowship of the Spirit of America, A fellowship of the spirit of Liberty.
