Taking America Hostage

For all the talk of Republican obstruction and attempting to "hold the country hostage" there have been multiple votes to fund various agencies of government by the House of Representatives in an attempt to "keep the government open" .

Not only has the Republican controlled House voted to "keep the government open" while the Democratic controlled Senate obstructed every effort , the Republicans in the House have been joined in ALL of these attempts to open the government by numerous House Democrats.

Here is a list of the votes and the # of Democrats who voted with the Republicans to keep the government open.

Making continuing appropriations for the Food and Drug Administration for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes -20 Democrats voted yes

Making continuing appropriations for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes-22 Democrats voted yes

Making continuing appropriations for the Federal Emergency Management Agency for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes-23 Democrats voted yes

Making continuing appropriations for veterans benefits for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes-35 Democrats voted yes

Pay Our Guard and Reserve Act-36 Democrats voted yes

Making continuing appropriations for the National Institutes of Health for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes-25 Democrats voted yes

Making continuing appropriations for National Park Service operations, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Gallery of Art, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes-23 Democrats voted yes

Making continuing appropriations of local funds of the District of Columbia for fiscal year 2014-36 Democrat voted yes

In addition 9 House Democrats voted with the Republicans to "table" the Senate continuing resolution.

All of these "bi-partisan" attempts to "keep government open" have been denied a vote by Harry Reid in the Senate. So based on the facts of what is actually occurring rather than the "spin", it is obviously the Democratic controlled Senate which has shut down the Federal Government.
