I've been waiting for the new regulations and inspections. Pile 'em on. More laws and regulations and inspections seem to be The Answer for any disaster, and yet usually there are adequate laws and protections already in place. More laws that aren't obeyed or enforced won't prevent another disaster. Inspections and certifications of compliance that are compromised in any way are worthless. IMO, government interference and corruption invite disasters.
Yes, continue the drilling offshore. I agree - that's the first sign of reality we've seen in this mess from our government.
