Years ago I was involved with building a rather large and custom designed modern style house. Without getting into the details of the engineering of it, one of the elements of the roof structure required a massive hip ridge beam to be built and installed. All the roof rafters on one side of the home would attach to this beam going back down to the framed walls.
During the entire process of construction up to the point where this beam would be required to be built and installed we on the project had looked at the architectural drawings and wondered how this beam was to be erected. The beam itself was to be massive, built on sight over forty feet long. The construction of the beam was nothing special the problem was how to erect it. One end would rest on the corner of the building, however the other end would have to basically be suspended thirty some feet in the air until the rest of the roof structure was built to support it.
As we got closer to the time when this beam would be needed the foreman began to pester the architect about what his thoughts were on how this feat was to be accomplished. "I'll get back to you."
Finally reaching the point where the beam was actually being constructed and needing direction we received the answer, "I design it, it's your job to build it."
We did, with a crane, a great deal of scaffolding and bracing that we had not planned on. The beam went up, the roof was built to it and the house was finished and quite beautiful.
I learned there were two types of architects, those whose daddy paid for their education and those that worked their way through college on construction sights. For the first type it was all just a theory and just looking at their plans you could often see they had no real world experience in what they were designing.
Our society is dividing up this way, perhaps it always has been, but it is becoming more and more obvious to me. The problem is that the theorist often believe that they are superior to the real world experience people, they know best without having ever really experienced the consequences of their theories.
A good example of this is our vice president, that good old boy Joe Biden. He sells himself and is marketed as a common man, but the fact of the matter is that Good Old Joe has been a US Senator since he was 29 years old and in politics his entire adult life. Joe Biden has no more idea of what the "common man" is than that architect knew about how to install that beam, to Joe Biden life in America is a theory.
Joe is not alone. Throughout our society these theorist dictate what is best based upon their theory rather than what is real. Academia is the worst of course since they live in a sheltered make believe world where intellectual gymnastics are encouraged regardless of their real world practicality. This is why we can end up with computer generated doomsday scenarios of global infernos while it snows in Las Vegas and Baghdad.
We currently have a government in massive debt that is spending trillions of dollars with the intellectual argument that this will generate economic growth.
We have Wall Street theorist who came up with idea that if you package a bunch of debt together, you can sell debt as an asset.
We have a media that tells us that one politician is a dunce because she raises a family loves America while another politician is a prince because he speaks well while condemning America.
Throughout our society we are being ruled and dictated to by a bunch of elite theorist who have no common sense and in their minds think they know better. And perhaps they do.
Perhaps they do because they now control our society at every level and lord it over We The People with condescending disdain.
Unfortunately for our elitist rulers, life is not a theory, life is reality.
If it's getting colder, it is not getting warmer, you can't spend your way out of debt, debt is debt and most important of all you can not govern what you hate.
We live in exciting times, in the years to come we are either going to witness reality slap down make believe or we are going to make believe that WE THE PEOPLE are not reality and beams can levitate in thin air while we build a house around it.
