The lag time between a Covid-19 "case" and fatality is estimated to be around 21 days.
Sadly, today, July 17th, Florida had 128 Covid-19 fatalities. Exactly 21 days ago June 26th there were reported to be 8,925 new cases in Florida. Using the lag time estimate, Florida's Case Fatality Rate would be 1.43% of June 26th cases.
On March 31st New York State reported 8,823 new cases. Three weeks later on April 21st, New York had 764 deaths which would be a lag time Case Fatality rate of 8.65%.
